modelled by Franz Anton Bustelli, standing wearing a basket on her back filled with mushrooms, supported by two straps held in her left hand, her right arm outstretched offering a mushroom, her puce bodice picked out in gilding, her skirt highlighted with yellow flowers and green stripes, upon a grassy mound base,

Condition

The figure has restoration to the upper section of the right arm, neck, and straps of the basket. The mushroom in her right hand has been re-stuck.

Catalogue Note

Known as ‘Täublingsgretl’, the figure was first modelled by Bustelli in 1755, pre-dating his celebrated Commedia dell’Arte series. Examples of the model are published by Katharina Hantschmann and Alfred Ziffer, Bustelli, Nymphenburger Porzellanfiguren des Rokoko, Munich, 2005, p. 160, 430-431, no. 58 and 59. One example was in the collection of Maurice de Rothschild, his (anon.) sale, Christie's London, 28th March 1977, lot 209.
