modelled by Johann Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Beyer, elaborately conceived as a shepherd and shepherdess playing instruments under a ruined arch, she playing a lute, he a pipe, the arch surmounted with a flower vase and a winged putto, to the side a dolphin fountain issuing water, upon a rockwork and grassy base, crowned interlaced CC mark in underglaze-blue,
Condition
The top section of the arch has been restored in three places, and the putto's wings are restored. Otherwise some typical minor chips to extremities. To the underside there are three areas of old over-paint which appear to be covering extended firing cracks not visible from the outside.
