modelled by J. J. Kändler, with a pug sat on top of the kennel scratching itself with its hind leg, with a chained older dog below peering out from inside, a small feeding trough to one side, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue,

Condition

One chain link is missing and another partially from the front of the model. Otherwise no other damage noted.

Catalogue Note

This model is comparable to another listed in Kändler's work records in May 1734 as follows: 'Oben auf dieser Hunde Hütte befinden sich 2 Mops hündgen, wie sie sich auf der Hütte herum beißen, der alte Budel Hund aber welcher mit seiner anhabenden Kette aus dem Hunde Haus herraus gekrochen kömbt, siehet auf seine Hütte was passiret mit aufgesperrtem Maule als bellete er, Neben der Hunde Hütte befindet sich ein Freß Tröglein, worin allerley Knochen liegen' [On top of this dog kennel are 2 pugs playing, the old poodle which has crawled out of the dog house with its tied chain watches with an open mouth, as if he is barking, next to the dog kennel is a small bowl with all sorts of bones].
