Catalogue Note

This sugar vase was made the very year Pierre Joubert entered his mark and is struck with the French revolutionary control mark for the year 1797 only. After the French Terror, controls and tax were reintroduced and the decree of 15 vendemiaire an V (6th octobre 1795) instaured new yearly tax stamps.
