Description
- Silver-Gilt
- largest 14.5cm., 5 3/4 in. high
each oblong on scrolling bases, chased with scrolling vignettes of Chinese blossom pickers among buildings, with shell, foliate scroll and lion mask chased borders, the largest with hinged cover, the pair with sliding covers, all with ornate cast foliate finials
Condition
Hallmarks stamped clearly to underside of each. The sliding and hinged are apparently unmarked. One leaf to each of the finals of the smaller two caddies has broken off. Light wear to the decoration but crispness is intact with gilding predominantly present. Good condition for age.

Catalogue Note
The design of these caddies follows that of a set by Thomas Heming of 1752, itself a variation of a model by Paul de Lamerie in 1751. A similar but later set by Frederick Vonham were sold Christies, London, 11 July 1990, Lot 152.
