Description
- Porcelain
- the stand 28.2cm., 11 1/8 in. wide
of quatrefoil form, the cover surmounted with a lemon-knop, each piece painted with four vignettes of couples of Watteau figures in landscapes, separated by elaborate gilded diaper-panelled scrollwork bands, the stand similarly painted reserving three flower sprays, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, the stand with impressed numeral 27 to edge of footrim, 'IN' in blue enamel,
Provenance
The collection of Baron von Born, Budapest, sold Rudolph Lepke's Kunst-Auctions-Haus, Berlin, 4th December 1929, lot 72.
Condition
The tureen is in good condition, its cover has been broken into two pieces and restored, with some associated re-gilding at the rim and discolouring over-paint to white ground.
