Description

  • silver-gilt
  • 32cm., 12 1/2 in. high
the spreading circular foot, bell-shaped body and detachable domed cover richly chased with fruiting vines, foliage, scrolls and other rococo ornament, further later engraved on either side with a coat-of-arms, motto, supporters, crest and duke's coronet, the underside with scratch weight: '70=2'

Condition

There is an approx 2" crack in the stem which has been repaired on the inside of the stem by the addition of a strengthening collar, which accounts for the discrepancies between the scratch weight and the present weight. Otherwise, condition good and marks reasonable. The gilding is probably the same date as the engraved arms and crest.

Catalogue Note
