Description

  • jug 34.9cm., 13 3/4 in. high, coaster 20.4cm., 8in. diameter
the inverted baluster glass body applied with stylised fruiting vines, stylised branch handle and vine embellished cover, the matching foot engraved in Russian and dated 1871; the silver mounted wooden coaster with cast fruiting vine border and raised on three casters, both pieces incuse stamped 'MORTIMER & HUNT, LONDON, 614/619'

Condition

The claret jug with later glass body. The rim to underside of the base a little creased where re-hammered/flattened on later glass. The mounts fit fairly well to the body. Otherwise good condition. The bas in good condition with light surface wear to the casting. The wood is in good condition with the underside later re-baized.
