  • 8.5cm., 3 3/8 in. wide
rectangular with bombé sides, the lid set with an enamel panel painted with Andromache protecting Astyanax from the Greeks, within dark blue enamel half crescent borders on a textured ground, engine-turned base with similar borders, the sides with alternating engine-turned and chased panels within dark blue borders with taille d'epargne ornament, incuse maker's mark GT, a sunray, shield and a lion, numbered 1823, later French control mark

some slight restoration to side enamel borders, otherwise good condition
