Description
- Two gold and enamel snuff boxes, Hanau, circa 1790

- 6cm., 2 3/8 in. diameter and 8cm., 3in. wide
the first, circular, the lid with an enamel plaque of a nymph kneeling before a statue of Venus,the ground, sides and base enamelled in grey enamel over concentric reeding scattered with pellets within opalescent enamel beads and green laurel leaves, French prestige marks including T crowned and Prévost laurel, the rim stamped: 855 ; the second, oval, the finely engine-turned panels bordered with raised enamel garlands of opalescent beads and translucent green leaves within light blue lines, French prestige marks including maker's mark CF, the rim with Hanau 'shell' for 18ct gold

Condition
1. There has been restoration to the enamel: on the lid giving the grey enamel a greenish hue, on the sides and a patch on the base turning blue. Minor losses to green enamel on borders. The restoration to the enamel has partly obscured the marks on the interior.
2. Very minor enamel losses to borders mainly on the front
