- sugar box 15.4cm., 6 1/4 in. high
comprising: a pair of tea caddies with hinged and latched covers, and two-handled covered sugar bowl, the handles cast as oriental mermen, the bodies all chased and embossed with chinoiserie scenes among ornate foliate scrolls, seated figural finials, each raised on four paw feet embellished with bearded masks, later engraved with the initials GG and later coat of arms

Condition
Bodies are later gilded and engraved. Gilding a little rubbed to high points. The engraved cartouches are a little thin where previously engraved. One foot of tea caddy with lead solder repair. Otherwise good condition.

Catalogue Note
Later engraved with the arms of Grenfell of Taplow Court, Taplow, Buckinghamshire, impaling Molyneux for Charles Pascoe Grenfell (1790-1867), second son of Pascoe Grenfell (1761-1838) and his first wife, Charotte Granville (d. 1790). He was married on 22 June 1819 to Lady Georgiana Frances (d. 1826), daughter of William Philip Molyneux, 2nd Earl of Sefton, by whom he had four children.
