Château Pontet Canet 2013
Pauillac, 5ème Cru Classé
They made about half a normal crop this year, by far the smallest yield for a very long time. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Average age of vines 45 years. Deep, smoky berries on the nose, plus aniseed, cassis and brambles. Wonderfully healthy and berryish on the palate, all cocoa, cassis and blackberries. Firing on all cylinders. Real freshness and attack. Very 'original' wine in taste, unlike any other - but then, many things are done differently here and Pontet Canet now has a decade of bio-dynamic viticulture behind it.
