  • gold, tsavorite garnet, diamond, fire opal
The sculptural frog set with numerous round tsavorite garnets, accented by round diamonds, completed by two cabochon fire opal eyes, gross weight approximately 61 dwts, signed Valentin Magro.

Condition

In good condition. The brooch displays little indication of wear in the form of minor scratching. The length of the brooch is approximately 3 inches from the tip of its nose to the end of its rear, running the tape measure along its back, and its width from back toe to back toe is approximately 3 1/2 inches. The tsavorite garnets range from medium to medium deep, slightly yellowish green to green and are moderately included with examples of small chips to the facet junctions found when seen under magnification; one garnet along the side of the frog is missing. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS with some SI examples, weighing a total of approximately 1.80 carats. The fire opals are a medium, very slightly reddish orange with one that has a small inclusion on the surface only noticeable under close inspection.
