Description

  • jade
of rectangular section, the waisted neck flanked by a pair of mythical beast handles, carved to the front side with two deer on rocky outcrops, beneath a pine tree in a mountainous landscape, the reverse carved with two crane beneath pine and wutong and beside a waterfall in a mountainous landscape, with thin bands of key-fret to the rim and foot, the cover with gently sloping edges running down to a thin band of key fret, below a rectangular finial, the stone of an even white to pale celadon tone

Condition

The rings are missing from the handles and there are two small shallow chips to the side of the rim (each 1.5mm by 1.5mm). There is also a very shallow chip/flake to the footrim (5mm by 3mm).
