Broadside (454 x 375 mm), engraved on vellum and partially accomplished in manuscript, being a commission appointing George H. Crosman as Assistant Quartermaster General with the rank of Colonel, on February 26, 1863. Signed "Abraham Lincoln" as President on March 14, 1863, and further signed by the Secretary of War, Edwin McMasters Stanton; creases where previously folded, some soiling, blue paper seal, docketed in red ink in upper left corner "Recorded Volume 17. Page 109. Adj. Genls' Office, March 14, 1863. Adj. Genl.", and signed "L. Thomas". Matted, glazed and framed. Not examined out of frame. 

Catalogue Note

George H. Crosman (1799-1882) was a graduate of Westpoint, and a career officer in the United States Regular Army. The George H. Crosman United States Army Reserve Center in Taunton, Massachusetts is named for him.
