on three hoof feet with lion heads, a circular base with applied grape vines and clusters, the barrel in the form of two entwined branches with three putto catching birds, one holding a net, another holding a nest containing two nestlings, and the third holding a partridge, on a circular base with applied grape vines and clusters supported by three hoof feet with lion heads, one example numbered 247777, the other 221068, each stamped Christofle under one of the feet

Condition

In overall good condition. The first one, 3 screws missing under the base, stamped with maker's mark and Christofle under one foot, stamped 221068 under one foot attach, the other one, 4 screws missing under the base, stamped twice Christofle and with maker's mark, stamped 247777 under the base.Very impressive size. Nice quality.

Catalogue Note

Christofle presented this model of candelabra at the London Universal Exhibition in 1851, which is also illustrated in the 1855 Christofle catalogue, plate 45, entitled 'candelabra children wine seven lights.' A pair of candelabra of the same model was sold Sotheby's Monaco on 4 December, 1989, Lot 1104, another one Sotheby's New York, in the collection of Suzanne Saperstein, on 19 April, 2012, lot 161.
