Condition

The illustration of the catalogue is accurate but the armchairs are less dark in reality. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. There are some chips and rubbed areas to the gilding, revealing the white gesso, the red bowl and the wood underneath. There are some minute refreshments to the gilding. The construction is firm and sound. As stated in the catalogue, both stamps G.IACOB under the back of the seatrail are fragmentary. The velvet is in good overall condition. Beautiful carving and nice design.
