Catalogue Note

This pair of wall-lights is very similar to a pair exhibited at the Exposition d'art français, organised by the Union de France pour la Belgique et les Pays alliés et amis in 1916 and belonged to Madame J. de Canson. They perfectly illustrate the transition between the softer, scrolled rococo form and the more linear, stronger look of the Louis XV neo-classical period.
