Catalogue Note

Combining two very different styles, this pair of wall-lights is decorated with the ornamentation widely used under the reign of Louis XIV, that being foliate scrolls, trimmings and lambrequins, a decorative repertoire used by André-Charles Boulle (1642-1732), together with the use of rocaille ornament of the Rococo period as seen in the acanthus leaves issuing the foliate scrolled candlearms.
