  • A gold and tortoiseshell snuff box, probably French, circa 1800
  • tortoiseshell, mother of pearl, ivory, hardstone (Shell), gold, gilt metal
rectangular with rounded corners, the lid set with a cameo of the profile of an emperor on a gold plaque chased with scrolls and acanthus on matted ground, 8cm., 3 1/8 in. high ; and two tortoiseshell bonbonnières, French, circa 1800, each inset with a miniature depicting a putto by an altar, the larger example with gilt-metal mounts, 5.5cm., 2 1/8 in. diameter ; the smaller with gold mounts, the miniature applied on mother of pearl, 4.8cm., 3 7/8 in. diameter

1. overall good condition apart from some chips to edge of base. both bonbonnieres with detached miniatures and chips to edges.
