Description
- porcelain, gilt-bronze
- 54cm. high; 1ft. 9¼in.
the porcelain figures surrounded by foliated candle arms
Provenance
Sotheby's Monaco, 21 May 1978, lot 1.
Condition
These wonderful candelabra are in reasonable good condition.
The porcelain is in good general condition with the exception of minor losses or chips to the extremities, including but not exclusive to the rockwork on the stands. Some minor firing imperfections including iron spots, minor crazing to the glaze and short firing cracks (e. g. to one of the Buddhas' heads).
The gilt-bronzes on one candelabra display old repairs to the middle branch which was once broken, and as a result the branches are loose. One tip of the left-hand side of one has also been repaired. Both would benefit from a light clean, there being areas of tarnishing and oxidation, possibly from previous cleaning products. The figures are detachable from the bronzes and need securing.
