Description

- 18.9cm., 7 1/2 in. high
the tusk vases applied and inlaid with hardstone and mother-of-pearl blossom trees adorned with birds and hanging baskets, with filigree silver rims and carved wooden stands, 29.2cm., 11 1/2 in. high, the electroplate mounted tusk jar decorated in a similar manner with gold embellished blossom branches with applied peacock, the reverse in a similar manner with birds and foliage, the cover with tusk final, the mounts on three ball feet
Condition
Vases - Various cracks and small splits to left-hand example, some hardstone/mother-of-pearl missing or replaced. Some decoration feels quite loose to touch. The other with similar losses and replacements but no obvious splits to the ivory.
Covered Jar - Ivory with some discolouration but no significant cracks to the body. Gold lacquering is worn in places. losses of mother-of-pearl to flowerhead on front and birds head on reverse. The base mounts are detached from the body and fit loosely.
