Description

  • porcelain, gilt bronze
  • 28cm. high; 11in.
the gilt-bronze lid cast with a twig finial, the vase of bulbous form with two square handles mounted with foliage branches, centred by a bearded mask, the basin resting on a foliage, c-scrolls and rock-work base

Condition

In overall good condition. It is not possible to inspect the vase and washer out of their mounts. The two handles of the vase have been pinned during the mounting, one handle has been broken and re-stuck, with traces of glue visible, and with one chip visible from the catalogue photo. The neck of the vase has probably been trimmed down during the mounting. One porcelain toadstool to the underneath of the vase is lacking, and there are shallow rim chips to the washer, and some losses to the lingzhi sprays. Both with minor glaze firing imperfections such as glaze pulls and crazing. The gilt-bronze display an attractive warm colour with minor tarnishing to the underside. The colour in the catalogue does not reflect the actual tonalities of the bronze.
