Condition
Structurally sound, these chairs are in good conserved condition, with marks and scratches consistent with age and use, notably to the legs. They have been re-upholstered, with the underside still showing the sings of old nailing. Four chairs with a repaired break to back each. With traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active.

Catalogue Note
Benoit-François Boulard (1766-1846) was the son of the celebrated menuisier Jean-Baptiste Boulard (d. 1789) and continued to work in the family workshop on rue de Cléry. Like his father, Benoit-François received commissions from the royal Garde-Meuble. He continued to prosper after the revolution supplying all the beds and some seat furniture to Pauline Borghese for the Petit Trianon in 1805. His most important imperial commission was in 1806 when he was given an order for well over one hundred pieces for various rooms in the Tuileries Palace. In 1809 he received another large order for the palais de l'Elysée.
