Description

top depicting Hermes and Aphrodite possibly with Hermaphroditus as a child.

Condition

Old wood worm to base. The central shaft of the base appears to be earlier. Gilding with rubbing and losses; some age crack to carving to base. Restored cracks to some of the curved elements at the base. Painting with cracklure and some losses to edges. Mount with old holes visible to upper portion; now slightly gaping from sides in areas. Usual chips, age cracks, and scratches consistent with use and age.
