Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This work on panel is in lovely condition. The panel is flat and unreinforced on the reverse. Munnings intended for the texture of the board to play a part in the finished work, and one can see that the upper left corner is completely unpainted and some of the horizontal grain is quite clearly visible throughout. The painting is cleaned and varnished. Under ultraviolet light, there are a few small retouches beneath the hind legs of the horse on the right addressing some texture. It also seems that some of the woodgrain beneath the head of the horse on the left has been reduced. The slightly darker thin lines visible under ultraviolet light corresponding to the woodgrain are not retouches. The work is in very good condition.
