Catalogue Note

Waugh attended a Foyle luncheon to promote Pinfold on the 19 July 1957, the day of publication. Attendees included Doris Leslie, Maurice Denham, and William Foyle, each of whom have signed this copy along with one other.

This fictionalised account of the severe aural hallucinations Waugh suffered in the mid 1950s as a result of bromide poisoning is widely considered his last major work.
