Catalogue Note

These photographs were taken by the Spanish photojournalist Paco Cano Lorenza who specialised in torero photography. They were taken during Hemingway's final visit to Spain, on an assignment for Life magazine about the rise of the bullfighter Antonio Ordonez, who is depicted in one of the photographs. Hemingway's text was finally published in book form as The Dangerous Summer in 1985.
