  • A silver calling card case, thought to have belonged to Joseph Crawhall
  • Silver, gold, enamel
silver calling card case with hinged lid by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, 1852, engraved "JC | 22nd April 1855" within an ornamental border, with velvet lined folding case; 

[together with]: two Crawhall family gold signet rings, both bearing the Crawhall crest depicting a crow holding a battle axe, the first striped with black enamel (worn) and with the crest inset on a blue stone, engraved inside "Ann Crawhall | Ob13 Jan 1870 | at 67", possibly by Samuel Weiner, c.1869, the second engraved "C.L. Crawhall-Wilson | March 5th 1918", London, 1817, loss to enamel on the first ring, both a little rubbed

Catalogue Note

Ann Crawhall (1797-1870) was the wife of Isaac Crawhall, Joseph Crawhall the elder’s brother. Cuthbert Levick Crawhall-Wilson was her great-grandson and the son of Thomas Fothergill Wilson Crawhall.
