4to (200 x 150mm), fifth edition (first with maps), additional engraved title-page, two folding maps and nine full-page engraved plates, woodcut headpieces and decorative initials, extensive annotations in an early seventeenth century hand in English and Latin including a three-page chronology of the early Saxon period, further notes in a later hand, modern green morocco elaborately gilt tooled in English Restoration "cottage roof" style, in a black morocco folding case, engraved title extended and possibly supplied, tear to 2C2 slightly affecting text, final rear endpaper laid down
