"For Greece and Crete" was first published in The Nineteenth Century in March 1897 then collected in A Channel Passage and Other Poems (1904). "Russia: An Ode" was also first published in The Nineteenth Century (August 1890) and also collected in A Channel Passage. "A Study from Memory" was published in Tristram of Lyonesse and other Poems (1882). "A Parting Song" was included in Studies in Song (1880). "Giordano Bruno" was published in The Athenaeum on 15 June 1889 and later collected in Astrophel and other Poems (1894) with the revised title "The Monument of Giordano Bruno".
