Condition

Some very minor scratching, otherwise overall good condition. The underside is also marked “Modèle & décor deposés”. An extraordinary modern sculptural work.

Le dessin du modèle, reproduit ci-dessous, a été vendu par Sotheby Parke Bernet à Monaco, Emile Gallé, Vases, Lampes, Projets, le 24 Octobre 1982, lot 30

Cette technique décorative que Gallé qualifia de "creuse" a fait l'objet d'un dépôt de brevet à Nancy le 14 mai 1895. Douze modèles furent ainsi déposés avec ce même décor d'arabesques profondément creusées et inspirées des arts de l'Islam.

A drawing of the model, reproduced below, has been sold by Sotheby Parke Bernet in Monaco, Emile Gallé, Vases, Lampes, Projets, on the 24th of October, 1982, lot 30.

This decorative technique, called by Gallé “creuse” (hollow) has been patented in Nancy, on the 14th of May, 1895. Twelve models were patented with the same curved lines, deeply engraved and inspired by Islamic art.
