A pair of Italian rococo giltwood comodini, Venice, mid-18th century

Description

  • Marble, giltwood, pine, walnut
  • 83cm. high, 54cm. wide, 34cm. deep; 2ft. 8¾in., 1ft. 9¼in., 1ft. 1¼in.
each with a verde antico inset marble top above a single panelled moulded door, on four cabriole legs

Condition

These attractive comodini are in reasonable condition. Both display marks and scratches consistent with age and use, and losses to giltwood. One with old repairs to the inset marble top and losses to giltwood, namely to the moulded border of the top which is in near-distressed condition. The marble top of the second comodino also with old repairs and one break to the rear right side that is in need of some attention. The moulded border is also in near-distressed condition and there is some movement to the left side. The rear left leg has been broken and repaired. One with shelf replaced and depth altered and therefore re-backed.
