Description

  • Giltwood, pine, mirror plate
  • 203cm. high, 98cm. wide; 6ft. 8in., 3ft. 2½in.
with a shaped rectangular foliate surround and pierced conforming cresting; gilding retouched

Condition

This fine and elegantly carved mirror is in good condition, with widespread foxing to the original mirror glass, which also has one small break to the lower right corner. There are traces of old woodworm that appears to be no longer active, and marks and scratches consistent with age. One foot has been broken and is in need of attention. The carving with minor losses and repairs, namely to the apron. This attractive piece would greatly benefit from a light clean that would restore the original brilliance of the gilding.
