The wood has been carved in sections and some joints are slightly open but stable. There is wear and losses to the gilding and the polychromy throughout. There is evidence of past worming which has led to some losses, including on the Virgin's crown, the child's feet and the tips of the fingers. There is some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material. The surface has darkened, notably around the bottom. Otherwise the condition is stable, with some further dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age.
