FR : Assez bon état général.
Le miroir présente de petites piqures et des traces, d'usage.
Plusieurs rayures d'usage, de petits enfoncements et des coups sur le métal.
Restaurations à l'émail au revers, aux extremités du décor et à gauche du papillon.
L'émail et la corne ont été très légèrement stabilisés avec de légers comblements de petits manques. La surface en corne des parties plus sombres à proximité du miroir est traitée de manière légèrement différente, résultant peut-être d'une restauration.
Quelques usures à la corne.
EN : Overall quite good condition.
The mirror with some pitting and traces consistent with use.
Several scratches consistent with use and minor dents on the metal.
Minor restorations to the enamel of the back, to the each of the outermost extremities of the decoration and to the left of the butterfly, only visible upon close inspection.
The horn with some wear.
The enamel and horn of the mirror has been sensitively stabilized with slight infill to the minor losses. The horn of the darker areas adjacent to the mirrored glass present with a slightly different surface treatment, possibly from a restoration.
The box is not original but a bespoke fit-in box made fifteen years ago.

Ce face à main a été commandé à René Lalique par Madame Evelyn St George, riche américaine, fille aînée de George Fisher Baker, fondateur et president de la First National Bank de New York. Femme de caractère, indépendante et émancipée, son esprit rebelle l’a naturellement dirigé vers les créations d’avant-garde de René Lalique. Sotheby’s a vendu à Londres le 15 mars 2016, lot 214, une broche en or ciselé figurant deux anges s’embrassant provenant de sa collection.
This hand-mirror was commissioned by Mrs Evelyn St George, a wealthy American and the eldest child of George Fisher Baker, founder and president of the First National Bank of the City of New York. St George was an independent and strong woman and her rebellious spirit led her to choose René Lalique’s avant-garde’s jewellery and creations.
Sotheby’s sold a gold brooch by René Lalique which depicts two embracing angels from her collection in London on March 15th, 2016, lot 214.
