The hinged blue enamel bangle of Garter form, inscribed "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", inner circumference approximately 190mm, British hallmarks and maker's marks, cased.

Provenance

Commissioned by Andrew, 11th Duke of Devonshire (1920–2004) from Armour-Winston, as a gift for Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (1920-2014), upon his receiving The Order of The Garter in 1996.

The Duchess writes 'In 1996, the Queen honoured Andrew with the Order of the Garter, which dates to the fourteenth century and is in the personal gift. It is the highest accolade of all and I have never known Andrew so thrilled or so moved'.

Condition

Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. British hallmark for 1996 and maker's mark D&F. Tarnish to gold throughout. Scratches to metal consistent with wear. Secure clasp. In good condition. Fitted case stamped Armour Winston Ltd. 43 Burlington Arcade.
