Description

  • Silver-gilt
  • 9.6cm., 3 3/4 in. long
oblong with curved ends and waisted reeded sides, the cover with central vacant medallion among engine-turning, chased raised floral thumbpiece, the interior cover engraved: "To William Hawes, Esq. Pray accept this trifling memento from your Colleague in Office who profits from you, although to his advancement, with much regret. Ever yours sincerely Thomas W. Glanville, Middlesex Hospital, March 13 1836"

Condition

Maker's mark lost. Some areas of engraved decoration rubbed. Surface wear in accordance with age.
