Provenance

A gift from the artist to Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (1920-2014).

Patricia Machin was commissioned by the Duchess to design a wide range of very successful tin-ware for the Chatsworth Estate Shops.

Condition

Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There are very slight stretcher bar marks around the extreme edges of the canvas. The canvas undulates slightly There is some very light rubbing in places, and light surface dirt. There is some minor reticulation and craquelure in places, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. Housed in an ornate gilt wooden frame.
