Description

  • The Dowager Duchess of Devonshire's Geranium
  • signed, titled, dedicated with love for Deborah and dated 31 . July . 2006 on the reverse
  • oil on canvas
  • 56 by 76cm.; 22 by 30in.

Provenance

Redfern Gallery, London, August 2006;
Dedicated by the artist to Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (1920-2014)

Condition

Unframed. Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly but otherwise appears sound. There is some craquelure in places, which has resulted in some lifting, primarily apparent to the white pigment above and to the upper left of the flower. There is some light surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some fluorescence, which is thought to be inkeeping with the artist's materials.
