Catalogue Note

In April 1963 Winston Churchill received Honorary Citizenship of the United States of America. Thomas Goode & Co. of South Audley Street, London commissioned Abbeydale China to produce the covered vase in a limited edition of 250 to mark the event.

The Duchess's father, David Freeman-Mitford, 2nd Baron Redesdale (1878– 1958) was a first cousin of the Prime Minister's wife, Clementine Ogilvy Spencer-Churchill (1885-1977).
