Catalogue Note

Photographed in the Oak Room at Chatsworth in the late 19th century. The 'antiquarian' style of this table clearly appealed to the 6th Duke and he felt it appropriate for this room fitted with salvaged 'antique' oak panelling he had acquired in London. Related tables were at Hardwick Hall and one is still at Holker Hall in Cumbria, both former Devonshire properties.
