Condition

The worn aesthetic and adhesive reside evident around the perimeter of the collaged fabric appear intentional and inherent to the artist's working method. Unframed.

Catalogue Note

“Sterling’s is a complex creative universe where individual tensions, desire, frustrations and everything that is difficult to apply language to and formalize, blends with an intense consideration of the very excesses of formalization, from the coercive and restraining function of architecture to the forms of delirium and rhetorical plot.”

(Alessandro Rabottini in Exh. Cat., Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo, Sterling Ruby: GRID RIPPER, 2008, p. 17)
