Condition

This work is in excellent condition. These photographs have been reprinted by the artist's studio, under the direction of Max Becher. There are some minor, localized spots of slight variation to the surface of the prints, which are inherent to the negatives and to the studio's printing process. The matteboard is original and displays some light discoloration under close inspection. Each print is secured to the matteboard with photo corners. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

Fördertürme Stahl is an early example of artists Bernd and Hilla Becher's collaborative enterprise when the couple were still attaching single images to acid-free paper into a collage-like composition. Each individual photograph is not unique, but the present work itself is the only version of this particular grouping. All of the photographs were taken between 1968 and 1972.
