Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of light handling and wear along the edges and sides of the canvas. There are scattered surface inconsistencies in all four quadrants, most notably in the top left and top right quadrants, most of which are believed to be inherent to the artist’s working method. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"At a certain point in its existence the image itself makes existential claims to its creator. It wants to be supplied with everything it needs in order to be. These are, of course, elemental aspects that find their reflection in the viewer’s sense of balance. Therefore, the painting cannot really go astray, but its creator can, if he or she is unable to comply with the demands of the work." Neo Rauch
