Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. Under close inspection, there are scattered, minor and unobtrusive light scratches visible along the base. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. All of the elements are stable and secure. Under close inspection, there is some cracking to the paint covering the bolts, some of which have become exposed, and there are a few scattered drip accretions visible on some of the clubs.

Catalogue Note
"Unquestionably, part of Oldenburg’s intention is to foil the literal minded. He is no naive simpleton, but a complex artist who seeks to exploit as fully as possible the various levels of meaning—subject, content, and form—available to any work of art. The constant pressure applied to each of these kinds of visual 'meaning' and the interrelationships among them, provide the special tension and excitement of his work."
