Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although there are fewer yellow undertones and the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals some light wear along the edges and corner tips, as well as some tension cracks running intermittently along the edges. There are some small networks of drying cracks isolated to some areas of thinner blue paint and to the flesh-coloured paint towards the centre of the left half of the composition. Extremely close inspection reveals two minute and unobtrusive pinholes to the extreme outer edges; one to the upper edge, towards the left corner, and another towards the centre of the right edge. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note

"It's about dismantling one reality and constructing another from the same parts, and that various concrete objects are not attached to their parts alone. I was thinking of Picasso's bull's head made from a bicycle and Duchamp's ready-mades. Essentially what I am painting is the state in which the image-time of one reality superimposed in a field of another simultaneous presence now becomes a new conjunctive hyper-reality or hybrid image showing the simultaneous presences."
