Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant, and the background is silver in the original.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. Very close inspection reveals some wear to the lower edge, towards the right corner, with some associated, minute specks of superficial loss. Further close inspection reveals a few thin drying cracks in places to the thicker areas of impasto, with an associated speck of loss to the superficial layer of paint towards the centre of the upper left quadrant, and a further superficial loss towards the centre of the composition, approximately 5 cm. from the green pigment. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
