Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Pierrepont for Charles, 1st Earl of Manvers, born 1737, assumed the surname and arms of Pierrepont in consequence of succeeding to the estate of his uncle, 2nd Duke of Kingston. He was MP for Nottinghamshire 1778-96, when he was created Baron Pierrepont of Holme Pierrepont and Viscount Newark of Newark-on-Trent and created Earl Manvers in 1806. He died 1816.
