Catalogue Note

The form and decoration of this English-inspired model are almost identical to those of a set of twelve armorial chairs supplied by the 'German Chairmaker' to the Palazzo Sardi in Lucca in 1758.  One of these from a private collection is illustrated in Enrico Colle, Il Mobile Rococo in Italia, Milan: 2003, p. 236.
